People of AUC: Wafaa AlFaramawi

Marketing senior Wafaa AlFaramawi is an award-winning car racer who aspires to become Egypt's first woman professional drifter -- an athlete who skillfully skids through high-speed turns with precision and control. When she isn't running circles around the competition, AlFaramawi is working to fine-tune her nail salon, owned and operated with her sisters.

What drives you?

Passion. I'm only good at doing things that I truly love. No matter what pressure or stress I'm facing, passion helps me keep my eye on the prize and try a thousand times until I get something right. Adrenaline is also embedded in my DNA. If I want to nourish my soul, I'll go skydiving.

What do you find yourself thinking about the most?

My car. I have dreams where I modify it to become faster in terms of horsepower and torque. I often wake up with new ideas that came to me in my dreams, and then I just start working on them -- searching for a bigger turbo, a better intake, fuel injections and so on.

What is the biggest decision you've made?

Joining the motorsports industry. It took a lot of courage to hop into a male-dominated field. Thankfully, the joy I felt while driving on my first track made it all worth it.

What advice would you give your younger self?

Just enjoy your time. Don't rush.

How do you want to be remembered?

A kind, helpful person who made people happy, who made them smile.
